12 Things That Your Employees Don’t Like About You

In my role as an employee relations consultant for both supervisors and employees at various companies, I’ve met with scores of workers who have voiced a litany of concerns about the things that they don’t like about their managers.  The goal of this list below is not to pass judgment but, to make supervisors more aware of employee perceptions;  giving those managers who may identify with the concerns expressed an opportunity to make changes over time.

Winding Up A Company

In these hard economic times business is very hard. If you are a company director looking for a bit of advice because your Garage business is struggling, you have come to the right place. I have created many articles which try to help a director take the right steps in either closing or liquidating a business or pre-packing a sale and starting again.

Firstly if your Garage company is insolvent you have a duty as a director to close the company and not incur any further debt, unless you can be pretty sure that you can put in place a rescue plan to turn that business around. If you can’t them you need to liquidate the company yourself or take professional advice on how best to close the business in an orderly fashion. (more…)

Books as unique gifts

Whenever we give a gift, it is obvious that we would like the recipient to remember us giving the gift. The recipient will only remember you if the gift is unique or it is something that is useful which the recipient can use over a period of time. Or it is something of interest to the recipient. Of course, needless to say, it should be reasonably priced.

Books with interesting and unique subjects or books that can serve as a reference book for the recipient of gift fit the bill perfectly. Books are not expensive. Also, people usually tend to keep books and don’t throw them away after reading them. If the book has a unique message, the recipient will remember you all his life. (more…)

Management Review

So as I’ve already stated, our society consists of many organizations that are guided & directed by the decisions of managers. In that case it’s very important to learn management. & learning about management is important for two reasons. First, we all depend on manager’s decisions & work. Managers have the authority & responsibility to build safe or unsafe products, seek war or peace, build or destroy cities, clean up or pollute the environment. Managers establish the conditions under which we are provided jobs, incomes, lifestyles, products, services, protection, health care & knowledge. It would be very difficult to find anyone who is neither a manager not affected by the decisions of a manager.

Second, individuals not trained as managers often find themselves in managerial positions. Many individuals presently being trained to be teachers, accountants, musicians, salespersons, artists, physicians, or lawyers will one day earn their livings as managers. They will manage schools, accounting firms, orchestras, sales organization, museums, hospitals, & government agencies. (more…)

Management and cultural diversity

Speaking on this topic, I feel like first I should say a few words about multinational companies, because, in my opinion, they are the main mechanisms that help us to understand all differences in management, organizing the performance of people and process of motivating in different parts of the world according to the cultural and national particularities of every one.

So, if we are talking about multinationals, I believe that most people would certainly say that it is a company doing business in more than one country. But I am sure that many experts, however, would not be satisfied with this definition. They believe that it does not indicate the size and scale of the multinational’s activities. To be a ‘true’ multinational, they say, a company should combine 3 aspects: (more…)

Management. Company structure

Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) team was asked to explain what happened to industrial performance of the United States during the past 20 years and to suggest what could be done to improve the situation. This team studied the problem and concluded:

  1. American organizations were not producing as well as they ought to produce or as well as they used to produce or as well as the organizations in other nations;
  2. American organizations certainly need to produce well, but to do this, they must be managed well.

The using the following principles can solve this problem:

  1. The application of effective management principles, programs and techniques in organizations must become commonplace
  2. Participative management. Quality assurance. Customer service programs. New technology implementation. Employee stock-purchase. Just-in-time production systems. Rewards programs. Entrepreneur programs. All these management approaches must be managed.

Management is the process undertaken by one or more individuals to coordinate the activities of others to achieve results not achievable by one individual acting alone. Peter Drucker (the well-known American business professor) believes that the work of management is to make people productive. To regain the competitive edge in the international arena, society must have managerial competence. Drucker states: “Management, its competence, its integrity and its performance will be decisive both to the United States and to the free world in the decades ahead”. (more…)

Starting a business is not easy and when you do, you are often faced with many problems and hurdles for you to climb. The market isn’t exactly healthy and the economy is in a tenuous position to say the least. What you need is key principles for business success, principles that will lead you all the way to success – because they are timeless tenets that can be applied to anything that you do. Once you have these principles in mind, of which I will give you 4, you will be able to get a clearer view on how you will structure your corporate strategies and your business structure. Hopefully, with these, you will be able to see the light at the end of the business tunnel – just a little bit clearer.

Good money management. Money is the core and the foundation of any business and without it, you won’t have anything else to do. Dollars and cents, currency; it is the basis of why you started to work for yourself in the first place. Make sure that there is a system in place where your money is being managed and you should know at any one time where it is, where it is being invested and how much you are using compared to how much you should be using every month. With a heads up view on your money and the ability to plug a leak whenever you can or reroute to another location, then your business has an extra edge to succeed. (more…)
